richness

The compulsion to be rich with power and prestige?

In an era where money trumps everything, and in most societies worldwide, one is often measured by richness, and the power and prestige that goes with it. How shallow is this notion that money is happiness, and how distorted is this measurement.

So what is richness then? OSHO says:

“Richness is something else, a begger can be rich, and an emperor can be poor, richness is the quality of being.”

On a similar note, what is greatness? William Arthur Ward, an American dedicated scholar, author, editor, pastor and teacher, said it beautifully:

“Greatness is not found in possessions, power, position, or prestige. It is discovered in goodness, humility, service, and character.”
