Om Mani Padme Hum - Tibetan Buddhist Mantra

There is lot of meaning to the chanting of the buddhist mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum”, we often see the Tibetan monks in robes chanting this repeatedly.

Om promotes the virtue of generosity, purifies the pride & bliss within, and falls under the realm of the devas or god.

Ma promotes the virtue of ethics, purifies the jealousy & lust for entertainment within, and falls under the realm of the asuras or demigods.

Ni promotes the virtue of patience, purifies the passion & desire, and falls under the realm of human beings.

Pad promotes the virtue of diligence, purifies the ignorance and prejudice within, and falls under the realm of animals.

Me promotes the virtue of renunciation, purifies poverty & possessiveness within, and falls under the realm of pretas or hungry ghosts.

Hum promotes the virtue of wisdom, purifies the aggression & hatred within, and falls under the realm of naraka or hell.

Tibet is the only country in the world which has devoted all its genius to the inner self exploration, the findings are of tremendous value. Chanting “Om mani padme hum” is one of the most beautiful expressions for the ultimate experience of enlightenment or awareness. It is depicted as ”the sound of silence, the diamond in the lotus.”
